check johnny8's gallery, he has great instructions on how to change the compressor wheel (same theory, just don't remove the wheel) without removing the turbo from the pedestal.
Do you have to completely remove the turbo to install the ATS housing?
No, stock housing has 5-6, 5/16, 12 point bolts. Disconnect your waste gate and don't lose the clip. I recommend getting a spare before you start. You will drop it.
Rremove your intake boots and remove the stock housing bolts.
There is one difficult bolt to get too. Make sure you have a 1/4" swivel, short extension and a spare deep 5/16" 12 point socket. You can easily split the thin wall socket trying to get that one bolt out!

i would also like to mention that an 8mm 12pt socket will suffice. i went to several hardware stores and only could find the 8mm, no 5/16''. i calculated it out, and there is only a few thousandths difference. i have used it several times on turbo bolts and it doesnt slip or twist off the heads.
Thank guys. It doesn't sound or look all that tough. I think I'll give it a shot. I've got a 2000 PSD so I don't think I'll need to change the wheel over to a WW. If you have any more suggestions I'd love to hear them.

Thanks again.
Your correct about the not needing the WW with the ATS housing.
