I could be way wrong here but I think you need to have the computer and possibly harness from the donor vehicle. Other than that probably wouldn't be to bad of a job.

Anything is POSSIBLE... It's all a matter of how much time and money you want to throw at it, and if you are willing to scrap you vehicle if you screw it up too bad.
There are a few SVT Focus' running around with a Cobra 4.6l motor and tranny and a RWD conversion... like I said anything is possible.

They're no different than a f150. Lots of manual transmissions in them. All you need is a donor truck for your parts.

I thought that the rear suspension was different, but so far as the tranny goes, it seems like an easy job. You may need a custom driveshaft at the most.

the f-150 does not have a manual option with the v-8. your only donor will be a f-250 or f-350 truck with the 5.4 or 6.8 engine.

I had a manual tranny in my 97 F150 with a 4.6L V8. I know that the auto tranny was required for the 5.4L though. Not sure about the newer F150's but the drawback to the manual in the 97 was the tow rating -- only 3000 lbs. Adding the auto tranny (with everything else the same, 4.6L, no tow package) upped the tow rating to 6000 lbs. At the time I couldn't afford the option, about $1k.

man that sucks. Why are the big 3 getting away from manual anyway. 3000 pounds is a joke. The truck can handle more, and i'm guessing that the tranny can handle more, why not put a clutch in tehre that can handle the weight?

Sorry about I just assumed they were common in the lower optioned work trucks. I didn't really think about the fact most of the newer 150's aren't really used as work trucks. Still living in the old days when they were standard transmissions. Once again sorry for the mistaken info.

3,000 was the limit for the trans. they are not built very strong. nothing compared to a NP 435 or a ZF-5 speed
