For those who knew not George
Earl is George's truck. He used the truck's name as his screen name. He put together an incredibly detailed description of his efforts to restore Earl. He took on the task of moderating for a while and then illness slowed him to a stop.
George is wonderfully witty, humble and mechanically gifted. A great writer whom I miss among others. Although I haven't been participating much lately, I am not gone and hope always to be a part of this group as I hope George, Fenders, Kai and others will remain a part.
George was one of many individuals who make this such a great forum. His gentle kindness and humor was his trademark. A friend whom we all miss.
sincerely, himmelberg

Eloquently said Peter, as usual. And so true.
For the newcomers who haven't seen it, here is "Earl's World". It is truly a one-of-a-kind site and a great read:

I miss George, too.

I really enjoyed reading his efforts on rebuilding his truck. I lost a lot of sleep for the first couple of nights staying up late trying to take it all in in a couple of nights. I never actually saw any posts from him (I must have joined after he stopped posting) but from reading his project writings and seeing his abilites with that truck I'm sure he is missed greatly on this board.
Hopefully he or someone who knows him can updates us on how he is doing.

Its obvious that Earl (George) is missed and liked by everyone here. I can't even count how many time George has helped me with problems on my truck and given me excellent advice. Its kinda sad to read this post because there were several people in here like Earl, Fenders and so many more, who really contributed to this site with tons of info, humor, etc. but rarely or no longer post anymore. It was guys like this that made this site what it is today. I don't know what happened buy I'd sure like to see them posting again. Might make me come back here more often.

AX... while George and Handsome Bob Ferguson maintain a stunning physical resemblance, they are NOT twins. Perhaps you are referring to the relationship of RMF (Ferg) and his cousin, John Niolon... who also bears that striking physical resemblance to the ones who are not twins.
One would think we had triplets here on the 48-60 forum there back in the heyday... easy to become confused.

I also miss George, he was a great contributor and did a fine job as moderator, equally missed are the others guys mentioned earlier and a few others who really made this place special.
In my view the atmosphere has changed a little on the site, more younger guys are posting (a good thing) and it seams more visitors are in and out than they were previously, that special feeling of almost being family is slowing disappearing.
A lot of great guys are still here but it's just not like it used to be, my thoughts anyway.
