I have never run these tires but I did watch a buddy of mine (on a Toyota) go through several sets over the course of a couple of years. From what I have heard (a tire dealer here in town confirmed this) these tires use a very soft tread compound that wears out quickly. They look cool but from what I have seen and heard I would have to recommend staying away unless you have the money to buy tires annually.

Just my input.
That's weird because I heard the exact opposite in a 4x4 mag review of them. It said they tended to slide sideways when rock crawling due to a harder tread compound, which in turn, would help them last longer.
Just put a set of 285's STT's on my ride, heres some pics, so far they have been great, I tested them out yesterday in 6"-12" of snow and they did great, mucho grip compared to the stock generals. http://photobucket.com/albums/y112/Unibomber/

What magazine was that in? I would like to read the article since I have never actually run a set of these tires myself. It is very possible that they have changed the compound. I do like the way that the new tread design looks.... reminds me of the Toyo's.
Thanks for the link info. The tires that I was refering to earlier were the old Cooper STT Radials...... It sounds like this new variant has a new tread compound from the article.
