It is still too wet and muddy to work on my truck so I am working on my camper - add a spare tire carrier to the rear bumper and a storage box to the tongue, along with a duel battery setup. Also need to do some cabinet work on the inside - add a small microwave and change out the ice box for a electric refrigerator.
The camper worked well on my Arizona trip, the only drawback was watching the superbowl on a 5 inch black and white TV. I got 15 mpg pulling it with my jeep, hope to get better with my truck, plus have the box to haul the vintage parts I keep finding.
I am just now going out the door to replace the door seals with Dennis Carpenter replacements-which ,I am told, will give me a few problems getting the doors to shut.Steve
Roofers showed up this AM instead of tomorrow. Had to have a "discussion" with them and the contractor to get it done the way I wanted (right way, my father was a roofer for 45 yrs.). About the time they got the drip edge and tarpaper on, it started to sleet, so they quit for the day, will be back tomorrow.
I'm shooting some pool with my buddy this afternoon, then working my side job Sunday. Back to the regular grind Monday. I don't work at a bank or for the Post Office.
work for me all weekend its icy and snowy, that means ever tom-dick & harry will probably be out driving and of course sliding and wrecking. i can see the accident reports stacking up in my clip board.
Tuesday it was in the mid to high 50's and I thought to myself "Man, this weekend is going to be great! Maybe I can work on the truck." As soon as the words crossed my mind the sky turned grey and a nasty cold front came in. By Wednesday AM it was thunderstorming with lightning. All while snowing and sleeting and raining at the same time. I woke up and thought I heard thunder but figured it was a snow plow. I said to my wife, "I thought that snow plow was thunder." and she said, "It was thunder". Thunder and lightning in February in Northern Illinois. I've been here all my life and I've never seen such a thing. Now 10 below today. Needless to say, I didn't work on the truck. Real bummer. I can't wait till spring. I envy you guys in the south with your mild to non existant winters. John
Yeah...its not that cold (17 last I checked), but we have 6" of snow on the ground down here right now. Northarn AR gets hit slightly once every year or two. LOL
we had a warming trend on saturday we hit 24 without the wind chill.lol
basically i was going to hang my front sheet metal, but that was till i seen how cold it really was i spent all day playing call of duty 2 on the xbox 360
Man, there's alot of talk about the cold. I think I got a sunburn this weekend. Cold in the am, "T" shirt weather by noon and only slightly breazy (I love it when the weather guy is wrong). We are in a major drought and havent seen any kind of moisture in so long I forgot what it is. Here is a pic from Saturday, look at the mountains in the background...not a bit of snow on them.
By the way,
I got the substructure for the bed finished and mounted the bed back on the truck.
I had some frosty beverages
I think I fixed the slight power steering leak
I had some frosty beverages
I banged a bunch of small dents out of my grill
I had some frosty beverages
I pulled my front clip and got sprayed some paint on the inner fenders
I had some frosty beverages
I was the source of several large clouds of tire smoke as I layed down quite a bit of rubber in the street.
Nice that you drank "some" frosty beverages and worked on your truck. I didn't get a thing done. The highs ended up being in the 20s with sleet falling. The was about an inch or so of ice on the ground with a little bit of snow. I drove around in it and played in it a little bit. I managed to get my 81 F-100 stuck my backyard, darn ice and street tires. Truck is looking great Bobby.
Thanks! While we've had great work on your truck weather (with the occasional winday day) I would sure love to see some of that moisture. I'm not even sure I remember what snow or rain looks like.
I guess I'll have to learn how to ski on sand as the lakes are drying up out here
