Question T 18
I think I have a T 18 trans the code plate on the door says F for the trans anyone know? I seen a picture of a T 18 and it looks just like mine its in my 78 2wd 150

If the top cover is cast iron like the rest of the tranny it's a T-18 a NP 435 has a aluminum top cover.

I would say yes, a T-18 is used in Jeeps

...and in fords. They came in 2 and 4wd, but in the 70s the 2wd was the most common. Most 4x4s had the 435. My T18 4x4 was out of a 78, though. I think the T18 was the only granny 4 spd used in the 80s.

T 18- T19
They did put T-18 in 70's trucks, and some 80's Np435 was 80+ for my thinking.

T18 had unsynchronized 1st gear

T19 had synchronized first gear

These are still being manufactured even today

look on the top of the cover and see if you recognize a np stamping....which would denote a np435. aluminum cover too.a scrape with razor should tell ya that. most 4x4's I know had the np435. 80's 2wd's I think were t18/19's. just to verify the F code.
.....With a grain of salt, these trucks have been around a long time for others to swap this&that out over the years.

the T18 will have a "13 01" somewhere on it.
