Question Autometer Guages???

Just wondering.. Black Cloud sells a kit with pillar and autometer guages for $279, but I haven't heard or read much about the autometer guages on here.. Are they no good, or just as good as the rest?

Also, if they are good, what kind of extra stuff am i going to need to hook them up??

Thanks
Chris

Autometer are among some of the best gauges avaliable...even NASCAR uses them. BCDP has the 3 gauge package for $300...you get the wiring kit, pillar painted to match your interior and free shipping. Instead of $279 and having to add all that extra, comes out to way more than $300.

Autometer is pretty much the best stuff around in my opinion. They have a nice webpage, you should check that out if you doubt me.

The kit from black cloud should come with everything you need to hook it up minus a way to splice in the boost guage and wire the guages. All you need for that is a 3/8 NPT Tee fitting and two 1/4" hose barbs with 3/8 NPT pipe thread. You splice that into the MAP pressure line and you're done. Pretty simple.

The hardest part is hooking up the wiring and finding the right wire for illumination. I forget the color of the wire (somebody else will fill it in soon, i'm sure) but you can tap into the illumination wire that is behind your dimmer control. You'll need an ingition wire too. I found a spare unused wire behind the dash by the radio that was hooked up to the ignition. I have an "ignition accessory" relay I installed this wire to. This way I don't draw much power from this random extra wire. It simply triggers the relay when the key is on. Other then that, all you need is a ground wire, but that could go just about anywhere.

Pretty simple evolution, just takes some time to run the wires if you want to make it look good. I already had a hole in my firewall too, so it was easy to run the boost line. You'd probably have to drill one if you haven't already.

You might check Black Cloud Diesel Performance, instead of BCD. Garrett is now a sponsor!! Here's the link: http://www.blackclouddieselperforman...alog/index.php You might need to call him though, as his webpage is still under construction.

Autometer's are great. I like mine. Clear and easy to read.

I think the wire behind the dimmer panel is orange for the illumination. Use a volt meter or test light to be sure.

Yeah, I meant BCDP not BCD. My bad. Garrett ROCKS!! Infact, I just ordered a set for myself so I can give my dads gauges back to him lol (He only uses his truck during the summer). I got the $300 package w/the Phantom gauges.

I agree!! Garrett is great to do business with. And, I'm all for supporting our sponsors. They help make this site possible, so I like to give back to them when I can.

Check out egauges.com, they have all sorts of mounting options.

I also have autometer Phantoms, couldn't be happier, I even change the gauge face out on the main cluster to match the Phantoms.

You should be able to track one down pretty easy. Call Garett at BCDP, I'd say he can set you up.

We've got Autometer Sport-Comps in our one ton. Love um, got the whole set-up from Summit and they're made in Illinois just like me!
