Hook tool for 76 wiper knob?

Hook tool for 76 wiper ****?

My hane's manual tells me to use a hook tool to remove the spring clip from the **** that controls the wiper speed. I have tried to find this tool at all of the local auto parts stores and am still emtpy handed. If anybody knows where to locate this tool or a substitute, it would be greatly appreciated if you could inform me of what to do.

Hook tool for 76 wiper ****?

Thanks to some help from a few other posters, I was able to perform this delicate surgical operation a few weeks ago! I used a piece of fairly stiff wire, bent into a hook with short leg (3/8"~)on one side of the hook. I then tugged the wire and **** at the same time, after inserting the wire hook into the little notch on the side of the ****. It's easier to do than try to explain, and does take a little persuasive pressure. But you'll be amazed at how easy it works after you figure out the proper length of wire, placement, and force. I think I got the best hint by having it described to me as being like the door stop on a screen door hydraulic closer!?!
