the 4 speed for the diesel is the t-19, doese anyone know if the bellhousing off the t-19 will fit on the t-18 gas version also did these come from the factory with a trans adaptor, ive seen these on e-bay and dont know what it is. and what is the benefit of a dual mass flywheel.. thanks for any help
The dual mass has no advantages.
Many people that have them are paying good money to swap to a solid flywheel so they can get rid of the dual mass.
Tranny should bolt to the bell housing.
Bell housing from a gasser motor will not bolt to a diesel motor or the other way either.
What everyone is calling an adapter is a spacer on the back of the motor that bolts to the motor and the bell housing then bolts to the spacer. The starter also bolts to the spacer. I am going to go find an International truck with a 7.3 in it just to see if they also use the same spacer.
I think they do unless the starter bolts to the International bell housing.
