Have Had A Problem With 7.3 Shut Off At Times And Have Heard That The Cam Position Sensor Could Be At Fault? Have Allready Replaced The Crank Sensor But Still Happens. Had A Bd Chip Installed And After Removing Have Had No Problems. Could It Be The Chip Had Worked Loose And The Cam Sensor Going Bad? Where Is The Cam Sensor Located? Please Advise
Zoni
Not sure what you are meaning with a 'Crank Sensor' other than you are actually referring to the CPS. If you have removed the chip and the problems went away, that was most likely your problem. It could be that whoever installed the chip did not do a good enough job on cleaning the PCM contacts and you were not getting good contact on one or more of the connections. It is possible that the chip has gone bad but unlikely. If you have already changed the CPS, I would try and clean the PCM contacts up and re-install the chip and see if your problem reappears.
The CPS is located on the front of the engine at about the 10:30 position on the dampner. It's held in with a 10mm bolt. You have to get to it from below the engine.
Have you pulled any codes yet? If it is a CPS it should show a code. If not I would suspect that your chip is loose or could be dirt or corrosion on the contacts on the chip.

Pulling codes anytime you have a problem is a very good idea and wise thing to do but unfortunately, most of the time a CPS failure will not throw a code.
Thanks For Feedback; Crank Sensor Is The Crank Position Sensor Parrelel To The Harmonic Balancer On The Left. The Shut Started Occuring At The 76859 Mile Range, Chip Installed At 14000 Miles. No Codes Appeared On The Odb Scan, removed The Chip And Have 7000 Miles With No Major Problem. Have Had Idle Drop Several Times While In Cruse Control But Never Shut Off.will Install Chip Myself And Verify Problem Resolved Or If It Reoccures. Thanks Zoni

It First Started Slow About Every 7-8k Miles Would Just Quit While In Cruse Control At 70-80 Mph. Questioned Whata-up/went Straight Toford And No Codes/it Started To Happen More Often And Sometimes Would Happen When Backing Out Of A Spot/shut Off Then Have To Restart//cycle The Key. Was Told(dont Know If True) But If It Quits And You Recycle The Key And It Starts Then You Might Have Errased The Code?then One Morning Went To Start And Nothing/followed Instructions In Owners Book And Still Nothing//had To Have It Towed To Ford For Them To Reprogram Something(think It Had To Do With Security Lockout)but Dont Know. Then It Started To Go Bad And Not Start Or Shutoff Every 773.6 Miles///back To Ford And No Code Replaced Crank Position Sensor Still Happened Every 773.3 Miles//back To Ford ///no Codes But This Time They Asked If I Had A Chip--of Course I Did So I Removed It(they Wanted 275.00 To Remove) Drovew Around The Block, cked Codes//no Codes. Have Driven Total Of 9686.2 Miles No Problems. Will Reinstall Chip And See If It Had Worked Loose.
