hi there i have an f250 93 model 2wd 5.8 eaod trans. the problem i have is that when i take off the trans trys to go straight to odrive well within about 50 feet anyway. the odrive light doesnt flash and can be turned on and off. if i change the gears manually that is by the lever in changes into all gears including odrive and the truck drives good. i have had this prob for a while now and hasnt got any worse in that time. i am in australia and getting technical info is quite hard. any ideas would be greatfully appreciated. thanks paul.
pull codes , www.fordfuelinjection.com will show you how. also inspect the VSS located on your rear differential. it may be bad or dirty. also replace the fluid in the rear diff as well. note if there is an LS in there you will need friction modifyer as well as the rear diff oil

what kind of code will he get? he sayed the light dosent flash??????????? u cant get a code if its no throwing you any.. least mine doesnt . dont think its the vvs becouse i unhooked mine and it still shifted ok
You unhooked your vss and it shifted fine? thats very strange to me. Anywho you can still pull code because it will only flash for important codes. It will store less important ones without flashing.
yea maybe i should say it shifted . and my 94 wont throw any tranny codes .unless the light is flashing. but its seen 3 trannys to so maybe its speical
lol . i was reading that changing the fluild would help with the vss if thats the problem.
If the vss is the problem do a diff flush (watching to see if its LS and using the right additive) and cleaning the hell out of the vss then checking the wiring from the vss forward.
also the mlp solenoid can cause shifting issues as well. if a fluid change and a vss sensor change doesnt help then its possible the tone ring is bad inside the rear diff.
3 trannys sounds like user error by not having that hooked up. the vss sends signals to the e4od. with out it may cause issues and premature failure of the tranny. thats why you dont see guys swaping 9" rear ends in anything newer then 92. in 92 that sensor was still in the tcase

The EEC controlled vehicles (not sure about others) will definitely throw a code w/o showing a check engine light.
There are different levels of severity for problems. Major problems will have a constant CEL, others will show an intermittant CEL, and minor problems won't show a CEL at all but if you check computer codes it's there. I've got one on mine right now.
well 10 years 3 trannys 225 thousand and used everyday. the vss has been hooked up . one time the abs light came on and this guy told me to unhook the vss and drive it done the road. he knew nothing about it same as me at the time. ... would low fluid preasure cause thsi kind of shifting problem?
hi there codes have been checked. only code present is air temp sensor, which wouldnt cause shifting prob i dont think, that code has been there for about 2 years. but i will check vss and see how it is. but speedo does work fine and abs works good as well. i have been told that what ever controls the valve body isnt functioning properly. thanks paul
