Starter?
I have a 79, f-150, 2 w/drive, 300ci, automatic, with 110,000 miles.
10,000 miles ago I put a new flyheel, and starter in.
Today it wouldnt start, it just does the, one click.
I tried to turn the motor manually with a 15/16 socket on the crank shaft pully, but it wouldnt budge.
I guess my question is, should I be able to turn the motor with a rachet on the crank shaft pully?

Automatic Transmissions use Flexplates.
Standard Transmissions use Flywheels
Turn the engine manually BOTH directions to release the starter drive in case it has Locked Up.
*NOTE:
Users should always Fully Charge their battery with a battery charger and then try starting the engine before assuming it is something else.

Thanks for the knowledge Million. I love my truck. I have decided to make sure the battery is charged first.
I couldnt get it to turn over manually so I am checking battery, then taking out the starter. I'll let you know.
Thanks again, love this sight. I know I could probabally find my answers somewhere within this sight, but I like the live replys much better.

I've had staters break the front bearing mount. If that happens it jams and you will have to pull it. I got so tired of replacing my "lifetime warranty" starter from Checker Auto I finally tossed it and used a mini starter.
