I have a 79, f-150, 2 w/drive, 300ci, automatic, with 110,000 miles.
10,000 miles ago I put a new flyheel, and starter in.
Today it wouldnt start, it just does the, one click.
I tried to turn the motor manually with a 15/16 socket on the crank shaft pully, but it wouldnt budge.
I guess my question is, should I be able to turn the motor with a rachet on the crank shaft pully?
You should be able to turn it on the crank pulley will just be a little tough w/ compression. Sounds like something may be binding on the inside or at flywheel.
Thanks for the knowledge Million. I love my truck. I have decided to make sure the battery is charged first.
I couldnt get it to turn over manually so I am checking battery, then taking out the starter. I'll let you know.
Thanks again, love this sight. I know I could probabally find my answers somewhere within this sight, but I like the live replys much better.

I've had staters break the front bearing mount. If that happens it jams and you will have to pull it. I got so tired of replacing my "lifetime warranty" starter from Checker Auto I finally tossed it and used a mini starter.
The front bearing mount on the starter is what it was. Remanufactured starter from bumper to bumper is now doing the job.
