I see nothing on the truck related to emmissions. I am going to change the coil pvc valve and ccvent filter today and fine tune the air mixture screws and that should about do it. Im sstill kinda confused as to what kinda performance i should expect did what i described in the earlier post seem about correct?

If you do not have emmissions, route a new vacuum hose from the vacuum port on the passenger side on your new carb to the vacuum advance on the distributor. The vacuum port should be located just below your choke housing and toward the front of the carb. This correct vacuum port located on carburator will have no vacuum during idle (<=750 rpms) and will have vacuum starting at about 1800 rpms and higher. This proper connection of the vacuum source to the vacuum advance on distributor will also improve performance and gas mileage.

Dennis, can you explain the procedure for setting air/fuel with a vacuum guage? I've never done it this way but if it works well...

Thanks

When i roiut a new vacume line to the vacume advance. what do i do with the old one that is attached? There is another hose port on the top of the vacume advance that had nothing on it so i capped it. should i use that one or what?

the current vacume source to the advance is comming from the intake manifold off one of the vacume trees, which there are 3 of. some of the vacume spurs are capped and some not. should i cap them all off and run the vacume to the advance from the carb off the one you described and i found.
and doing this will i need to change anything else because of it other than idle speed mabey? not the fuel mixture screws or anything. We are getting very close now to it running to perfection. every day its getting beter with all the help ya'all have given. I drove it last night after setting the fuel mixture as you described and they ended up at about 3.5 turns out. then i tweeked the timing a bit and she ran pretty good. but i will try the vacume line to the advance thing this evening. if you could answer the questions at start of this post. and what about the vacume spur i capped on the top of the advance, is that correct?
Again guys youve been a great help and made this job a pleasure with great results

custom1, good to hear your trucks is running better.

Cap all the vacuums ports, except those vacuum hoses running to the PCV valve and to the brake power booster. Run a new vacuum hose from the carb as mentioned to the vacuum hose on the distributor.
