1983 351W starter shield
Any body know if there is such a beast as a metal shroud to fit around the starter motor on our 351s? Id dearly love to own one. I found out the hard way after and extended idling time that the motor get blazing hot and wont move. I have headers, too.

I had the same problem with my '85 F250 and was never able to find a metal shield for the starter. I finally got a Starter Heat Shield made by Cool It Thermo Tec Racing Products. < http://www.thermotec.com/ >. Thermo Tec doesn't sell direct but has a list of retailers on their website. The shield is a wrap on blanket made of special aluminized/fiberglass material. If my memory is correct, it cost about $30 a year or so ago. They are made for racecars but worked well on my old low and slow street truck. Hope this is some help.
