Sounds like you need a new ignition switch. And blue smoke is saying that a rebuild will be needed, myself if you have a 390 in it now, I'd rebiuld it. 390's work good in the 4x4's. You can drop out 3rd member to check what broke in the rear end, that is if it is a 9" and your truck is a F-100, for a F-250 you got to tear it down under the truck.
yeah i have to tear it from under the truck. i know that can be fixed. how much would i spend on the rebuild with rings and all? should i increase the bore? also i think i tried the ignition switch, and nothing. just the shut off worked and the run position. maybe its wired weird?
Look at PAW.com, they have rebuild kits, you would have to look at prices, but I think you can get a kit for less than $1000, then you will have to factor in machine shop cost. Check to see if the small poles on the front of the starter selinoid if hooked up. The pole next to the poss. battery cable runs the ignition switch.
thinking of just selling this one and putting the money into my 73 until i can find a better 67-72. i want $800 because the tires and rims are awesome. 35" mickey thompsons 5 lug 12.5" wide almost new.
