If using 79 spindles on a 69 f100. What king pin and bushing kit do I need to use? All I have are the spindles for now. I have read a few posts where people suggested just replacing the whole 79 front end assemble. Why is this an advantage? Any help, Thanks
wrong, the only difference in the kingpins is the length, they will fit and do. the length difference is small but the diameter is the same. the only reason to use the whole front end is to make the swap easier.. it can be installed without pulling each part one at a time. so look for a truck with tight front end and use it. unless you just want to rebuild it as you install it.
Hmmm, from what I've read there are differences from '75-'79. But my data is just from reading, not actually doing. I wouldn't waste my time, even this group's own tech article points out the gains of going disc brake are minimal:
I plan on rebuilding all the king pin bushings and all the I-beam and radius arm bushings. I have a 68 f100 with drums and I have a complete front end from a 79 but the drivers I-beam seems to be a little bent. Is the drivers side suposed to be bent? Do you know what king pin bushing set I need to use, if I just swap the spindles? Thanks for your help..
Yes its supposed to have a bend. My 67 front end is out of a 79 its a lot better having disc brakes than drums. the only thing i kept were my springs and thats because the 79 had a 6 cyl. in it and I have a 390.
