How does the brake light switch work on a 67 F100? I can't see where it has a plunger to activate the lights. Is it activated by the angle change when you push the pedal? Thanks for your help! Brett
Ok...on my f-250 it worked like this......the Rod from the Master cyl has/had a round "eye" on the end that a "post" on the side of the pedal arm fits through. One side of this "eye" (the side facing you in the driver's seat) is flattened....the "post" is also slightly smaller than the inside diameter of the "eye." The switch is attached to this "eye-post" assembly, when you press the pedal it allows a slight amount of travel and the flat surface engages the switch.
If you are like me and you thought you had a 69 at first, you may have replaced the master cylinder with a different type(with space brackets no less!). You can swap back to the original to get it working like it was intended.....or, in my case, I made a simple bracket from the bottom edge of the dash (with a strip of metal from Lowe's) that holds a traditional "normally closed" switch that the face of the pedal arm contacts.
Hope that helps, feel free to reply if you need more specifics or a pic or two.
