front bumper rusting

When I was up at work this time,I noticed that my bosses new 350 lariat's front bumper was surface rusting. I thought that wasn't a good thing for a new truck to be doing,and chalked it up to just a random bad chrome bumper, but when I got home from work after this shift I had a look at mine on my 04 s'crew and noticed mine had started surface rusting too. The truck had been washed before I left but had just a light salt spray from the four mile trip back to the farm on winter road.I was just wondering if anybody else has had any trouble with rust& if there is anything a person can put on the bumper to eliminate this problem before it does permanent damage.

My 04 Screw had rust on the bumper a month after I bought it, any good chrome polish will clean the surface rust off and protect the bumper. I happened to use Autosol Metal Polish.
