My '03 X has a painted bumper, and it had some rust marks on it from when I bought it used. I'd like to replace the front and rear bumpers with chrome. I'll leave the front as the same generation bumper, but, at the rear, do the later model bumpers mount up?
yes the newer super dutys are a direct bolt up. i have a '10 super duty bumper waiting to go on my '04 i just have to get it painted.(im replacing the chrome with painted bumpers)
I have an '03 Limited with painted bumpers that are also showing some rust. I have been wondering what the best thing to do is. My front has a small dent in it so I was thinking of replacing it with a new painted one.
The rear is also showing some rust along the edges and I was planning on replacing it with a new painted one.
BUT, now you say that other models will fit on the rear. Whats the advantage to switching to a different model rear bumper. Any PICS?
I am going for the "stock" look so i'm not interested in the big strong custom aftermarket bumpers. Although they do look good on the heavily modified trucks.
i like the '08-up super duty bumper for a newer style look, also it looks that the rear step pad is alittle bigger on the 08-ups.
there are some photos floating around with the new style bumpers on excursions.
the only issue i'm having to deal with is mouting my parking sensors but i think i have that under control..a hole saw, tape measure and a dremal plus some time i should be able to get them installed like factory.
