Does anyone know why the MSD 6A ignition box is so cheap now? There is a $31 instant rebate at Summit and Jegs making it less than $150. I think I'm going to get one now.
Well, I got one. I didn't realize that my engine could run any better but, wow, that box is awesome. I converted the distributer cap over to the late model version, too. I'm happy. Thanks for all the info in this forum.
Cheap? The one I had was given to me brand new, it failed so I gave it back, he put the whole MSD assembly back into boxes then into the trash can. Can't get a MSD any cheaper than that if you dig in the trash can for failed ignitions by MSD. Yes this was the third and last MSD failure until changing manufactures.
I'm not bitter its that MSD is crap in my book as well others with all the failures on the road. Ask Greg how many times he has replaced failed components.
.....=o&o>.....
As I recall the original owners of MSD sold out awhile back and I can only imagine that the new owners are making it cheaper both in quality and price.
Sometimes you get what you pay for.
I am still running my original 6A box for the last 8 years with no problems.
I can remember back in the early / mid 60's laughing at a friends transistor radio as he showed us the back with a "Made In Japan" sticker. They lost the war and now almost have a country, China's next. Their thinking is for reaching goals in the long run and 1945 wasn't that long ago. English as a second language in Amerika? Keep them borders open, no jobs, no medical and reduced retirement pensions for the locals born in the late U. S. of A.
I'll shut up. .....=o&o>.....

I remember back when they are like $120 , now they are near $180 for a 6AL. Yowza!!
Glad I don't need one, and the one I do have has been around for 10 yrs now.
I looked at a boost unit for the blower car, but when you add it up and it's near $400....I think I'll leave well enough alone.
