No takers on this yet so let me rephrase the question. Why would my left front, driver side, brake want to freeze up as the day goes on? Hard pedal and locked up!All answers are appreciated!
My right rear started locking up a while back with only the slightest pedal pressure. I had to start my stops hundreds of yards ahead of time or I'd squeal that tire right thru a red light.
Anyway, I needed a new brake cylinder back there. And shoes--everything was soaked with fluid.

Amen. They both probably came at the same time, no reason to expect they won't go pretty close together, too.
My brakes are drum brakes. The problem is that the pedal gets harder as time goes on to the point where the front wheel is always braked. I have adjusted the star wheel all the way loose to render the front brakes useless so I can use the truck. The guy at the Midas shop seems to think a line is pinched not allowing the shoes to retract. It goes back to him on Tuesday for a look see. I have new cylinders in there. That is the drag. everything in this rig is new!!!!!
greghoffman, is there a chance that the star wheel adjuster could be in backwards? Of all the new items you have installed, could something like the master cylinder or split brake line system have any form of check valve that could be defective?
The thought of the star wheel being there bass ackwards crossed my mind as well. The problem started before the adjuster kit was installed and has since not gotten any better. The first time this happened is when I realized there was no retainer / stopper for the star wheel. She goes back to the brake guy on Tuesday and I will let everyone know what the low down is this time. I really do not wnat to have to give up on this rig but things are getting a bit rediculous. I work for a week and go to the garage for a week !!!!
Seems to me like a brake hose... the rubber one. They will in time deteriorate on the inside. They swell shut more and more each time you apply pressure. Replace it and I think t will solve yur problem. Might as well do both sides. Good luck and let us know what the deal was. Oh.. also a quick way to check.. open the bleeder screw and see if any pressure is still present.
another thing to check on would be to see it the drum is to big, after having them turned, maybe your brake shoes are going out so far and there isnt enough pressure with your springs to bring them back in? Just a thought.
