Need a turbo replacement
Just turned 29K miles and the dreaded code P0299, "low boost pressure" is stored.
Checked with a technician and sure enough, the VGT vanes are sticking when I get it hot and boost is very slow to build.
Oh well...as long as it gets fixed I guess I am happy.

All the right people at Ford agree what it is (it pays to have friends in low places) and the truck is sitting at the dealer. Still.
We will see if tomorrow (Monday) they have done anything. I dropped the truck off last Tuesday morning with the assurance that they would have looked at it by Wednesday PM. Thursday I called and they had not touched it. If they have not done anything, I will pick up the truck and head to another dealer. Even Ford engineers get crappy service.
Just an FYI, I read as many posts as I can but I am not at liberty to answer on behalf of Ford.
It makes great reading though since this site certainly represents some voices of the customer. Unhappy ones, but voices nonetheless which deserve attention.

i noticed the same thing with my new 2006 f-250, with only 1150 on the odometer. the vanes were sticking open, and it took forever and 3750rpm's to build boost. it then snapped back normal in a bit and still left the light on. it was on for the past 26 hours i ran the truck for yesterday during the snowstorm.

I had a Field Service engineer check out the turbo and it is getting replaced by Motor City Truck in Livonia, MI. At the same time I am having the fuel filter replaced and the air filter replaced.
The truck is originally from Oracle, AZ near Tucson and that became obvious when the service advisor called me asking if I live in a sandy area...since they poured a quart of sand out of the dirty side of the aircleaner assy while dismantling for the turbo swap!
By the way, my VGT sticks cold and hot, low and high boost. I made the service guy understand that I am concerned with blown headgaskets since I saw spikes to 35 psi when the VGT was sticking high and Lord knows how many times it did that before I got the gauges or with the previous owner.
Also, for those in the SE Michigan area, the engineer who checked out my truck said that he heartily recommends Palmer Ford in Chelsea, MI for having OUTSTANDING service. It's a bit of a drive from Dearborn, (50 miles) but good service is worth it.
I'll let y'all know when I get the truck back how well it runs.
