what is the
biggest tire size I can go with on 17" factory wheels without completely killing fuel economy. And also I dont ever tow the max and never will get close to the load range of the tires. I pull a 20' Triton bass boat(3800 lbs. maybe) and occasionally a 30' airstream travel trailer do I need or should I say have to go back with the heavier ply tires?

I would imagine your constraints will more than likely be what size tire you can fit in the standard wheel well - not fuel economy.
285's are pretty common if I recall correctly
