EGR Valve / Computer Relay???
Working on a 1986 F150 (302 EFI) I just picked up for $400 the truck has 100,000 miles on it and I did the basic tune-up: Oil change, fluids, plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay. But, the truck has a stumble or miss when accelerating, there is also a little bit of a "pop" (in the manifold it sounds like.) I used to have an 1990 302 and had a similar problem, I replaced the Computer relay and fuel pump relay on it and the problem seemed to go away, I think, (it's been a long time). So, I replaced the relays on this 86 and the problem still exists. I was wondering about the EGR valve. I know they can cause issues if stuck open, but how do I test to see if it is open or closed so that I don't throw away $150 on a part I don't need? Any advise or comments on similiar problems would be greatly appreciated. THANKS.
