Hand washed my new 05 Ranger XLT 4.0 5-sp S/C, noticed in the driver's side front wheel well, there is no splash shield to protect the starter, exhaust, and ABS wiring in there. Looking in from outside, I can see all those things, and basically the whole side of the engine.
Called two different Ford dealers, both say "they're all like that". A check on the lot confirmed it.
Any idea why Ford would leave all that hardware exposed like that?
Makes no sense to me.
I have an 03 edge and I noticed the same thing. The one I have is actually there, but much smaller than the passenger side. I went to the dealership to get one and they told me they went away from the full covering in 03....so from what I gathered mine was normal...
Wish I had the full coverage though. I may order one from an 02 or make one
The P/N listed there is for the Right side. I have a Ranger P/N list and it shows that number for the Right side. The same Parts list shows this number for the Left side. 1L5Z 16103 CA, But I can not tell what it loos like. My dealer put one on my Left side the is about 6 inches long and is installed on the rear part of the well. I can not see what good it does. I do not know what the P/N is though.
I just contacted Direct Ford Parts and Kelly told me that 1L5Z 16103 is about 10 inches long and it ranges from 9 1/2" to 1 3/4". I guess that is the same one my dealer got for me. So I guess if you want a full one it will have to be one for the Right side.
