You're a knowledgeable man, Bill! I have another one for you to decode if you wouldn't mind. It belongs to my parents and they are curious as no decoders they can find online will help.

Listed as a 1969 Ford Econoline Chateau Club Wagon 123

E23GHD19272

123/MQ/E230/2382/6/17
A6

I think it was separated properly, but I had a hard time reading it in the dark! LOL! Thanks very much!

Another VIN decoding request

This website is great. It even helped me find the VIN in the first place, which was no easy task as this project is a little rusty.

Bill perhaps you can help me too. In the summer I purchased what I was told is a 1961 Mercury Econoline Pickup. It has the Mercury emblem on the front but the tailgate is gone. The doors have been changed to 67 Ford Econoline doors I was told and the pillar tag is gone.

After reading through this web site I found the one last place that wasn't missing due to rust (brace behind the taillight) and started scraping layers of paint off and Voila....here it is.

E10SH123542

Is it what I was told and any other cool tidbits of info you may have?

Cheers,
Scott

Hi Merc power

I can help a bit here also.

The E10 is Econoline Pick up.

S 144 CID motor

H Lorain assembly plant

123542 it was assembled in Dec of 1960 for the 1961 lines.

I was in contact with a fella in Regina who just bought a very good restorable truck that was built in the second week of production on Econolines. He is thrilled.

I hope this helps. Another location for the serial number is under the lip of the doghouse usually on the right side.

Great,

Thanks so much. I am pretty excited about this one too. December of '60 must be fairly early as well. I guess it is a low number Mercury pickup since I under stand there were just over 1000 from '61 to '67.

Yes Merc Econolines are hard to find, but I seen a fair share. I got 3 Econoline vans here. The fella in Regina has a truck, I bought one truck for parts from a another fella in Regina that had a Merc truck and there was one for sale in Unity Sk. They were asking $5000 for it and it was a rust bucket and they did not know the year and were not willing to check things out for prospective buyers. Their price tag was way too high for what it needed done.
I have a 61 Econoline shop manual and a 65 and 66 manual also.

Is this VIN similar to your Canadian Mercury Econolines?

The reason I'm asking is: Thru 1965, the VIN's used on Canadian trucks are totally different than US trucks.

Assembled in Canada solely for the Canadian market: Mercury M100 or Ford F100 VIN: 4991014L-123456A.

The VIN on this Econoline seems to reflects US usage, but I'm not that familiar with Econoline VIN's of Canada only.

Mercury Econolines were only sold in Canada when new, not sold in the US.

This is where I am unsure and was looking for answers myself.

This is what I know. I found the owner from 30+ years ago. He is the one who put on the other doors from a Ford Econoline, I am assuming a Canadian Model. The VIN on the drivers door is E16AH836794. I was told they are from a '67. He claims to be certain it is a '61 Mercury. He says he owned several Econolines over the years. Looking at it it does not appear to have had the other holes for the F,O,R,D across the front. The Merc emblem appears to be an original part of this vehicle.

Because this is the first one I have owned I have no other means of comparison. I saw a picture of a nicely redone yellow Mercury P/U on this sight. Perhaps he would be willing to share his VIN for reference sake. Here is the link.

1965 Mercury Econoline 4x2 - My Dad's Mercury

Thanks again,
Scott

That yellow one belongs to a fella in our Man./Sask. chapter.
I have I have two Mercury vans here and a friend has one also.
Is there another tag on the A pillar with axle and trans numbers. From Oakville Canada. If there is the first digit will be a 5 for Mercury or a 6 for Ford.

The 2nd serial number you show says the tag was off a panel van and the motor was a 240.CID Built in the Lorain plant. The 836794 says it was built in March of 1966.
Not saying that by the time it sold it was sold as a 67.
PM me and we can send pics back to each other.

You can see where the A pillar tag was, but it is gone. That's why I was hoping the VIN would be more definitive.

Question VIN Decode help please

Hi! I recently bought a Ford Pickup, definitely a project, & I can only locate 1 vin plate on the driver's side door. Can anyone help me decode, please? MVD here in AZ is absolutely no help, & I have no title. It's F10BR567080.

Any help would be really appreciated. I've googled online but get mixed/conflicting information. Thank you!

I'll be at the Fabulous Fords Forever show at Knott's Berry Farm in April. Never been there before but hear it's a great show.
