I want to find a rag top for my 90. I only saw one on ebay and don't really care for how it looks. I'm looking for one that is squared off in the back with a window. If any can help out it would be great
The Graveyard carries them new. These are the ONLY ones manufactured. They often pop up on Ebay for much less than what they want for a new one. I think the pricetag on a new one is pushing the $500-600 mark these days with shipping which is ludicrous if you ask me.
I was on the hunt for a soft top for my 88 bronco and i couldnt find anything under $499 that was in good condition on the web. I would try to find one localy at a swap meet or in put an add in the paper
Thanks, I didn't expect them to be that much! I looked at the one in the broncograveyard and thats the kind i'm looking for. I'll have to think on it. thanks again
If you are handy with sewing then you should try to make one. I considered that but never found the time. Also a friend of mine is having a custom one made for his m37. Im not sure where oof how much but that could be one possibly less expensive alternitive. If you look into getting a custom top I would talk to some one with a boat. If you can find a place that makes custom boat covers they may agree to make one for your truck. Again I dont know how much that might cost but it would be a good investment. Boat covers are built tough.
My gallery has pictures of a modified factory hard top with a removable soft section in the ceiling. The side windows have been removed and they will be replaced this spring with soft windows that will zip-out from the top of the window frame and snap against the other three sides of the window frame like the top section does across the roof. I took on this project becasue I wanted the open-road feel but in 92 the rear seat belts became shoulder harnesses and to remove the top completely removes two seat belts from the rear seat. Not good with little neices and nephews in the truck. It also made that heavy factory top about 75-100 lbs. lighter, I didn't have to drill any new holes in the body and the rear glass can still be rolled up. Just another idea. Take it for what its worth. This is the link to the gallery I do know how it went together and what tools and materials are required if you want to do something like it.
I have the same soft top you can buy from the Bronco Graveyard. I drive 99.9 percent of the year topless. i can't stand the top to be on. The soft top is there only if it rains. I can put my soft top on in under 10 min. Of course I have great senerio of conditions. 1. I live in Houston Tx 2. I keep my bronco in the garage every night. 3 where I work we have a parking garage. If you don't have these condition, then you may have to dry the bronco out every now in then. In light rain the soft top will keep her dry, but if it is really storming and blowing, water will get inside.
My custom made boat top ran me close to a $1000 CAD. I don't know if they can be that much cheaper down there.... So half of that for the Bronco plus I supplied the frame.

That top is great!! But how is it in the rain, and what about cold air coming in? I know soft tops will leak but it gets pretty cold here in Ct. 3 to 4 months would be the max for no top around here. I still have just lap belts so seat belts aren't a factor. Not to handy when it comes to sewing a button is my extent. It doesn't see the garage much (only for oil changes and if something needs to be fixed) and it is a must in the winter. The wife tries not to drive her E350 van to much when its snowing. I just have to weight out all the options you guy's have given me and decide if it is worth it for a couple of 3,or 4 months. Thanks for the ideas everyone.
The top is fine in the rain with no leaks after two years of running. It doens't like high pressure car washes as the pressure can overcome the seal if it comes in under the edge of the fabric but rain doesn't really have that ability and I run that top on the highway all the time even with no windows so there is air pressure pushing UP at the fabric. I've never had any problems. The design of the aluminum frame around the hole in the roof creates a ridge that is taller than the edge of the fibreglass and the fabric panel is stretched OVER this frame when the snaps are fastened. I can't speak to the side windows with absolute certainty yet, but the design leaves them set well into the window frame in the top so there is little likelihood of the windows leaking either. Since I haven't had the opportunity to run this top in the winter months, I can't speak to its insulative qualities but the OEM top has no insulation per se unless you consider the 1/8" thick headliner material across the ceiling to be insulation. I didn't really have an all-season top in mind when I designed it. I can say that I am absolutely certain that it would be better equipped to keep out the cold than the full soft top would being that it employs MOST of the OEM top so the factory seals for the rear glass, the top ridge between the steel roof section and the fibreglass, and the side seals between the top and the bedrails remain intact.
One came with the 88 Bronco I purchased yesterday - I haven't seen it - it was in the back of their garage and they are getting out today and putting it in my sister's garage for me to get this . I am pretty sure I will not use it - if it is in good shape, and someone can use, I will certainly sell it.
I'll advise asap!
Or if my offer is crazy and I should keep it, feel free to tell me - I'm a newbie Bronco owner!
Even if you don't want the soft top, I will guarantee that sooner or later you will get the itch to revome the factory top 'cause its just way too cool to run without it! And depending upon where you live, running without the top for a day and having a thunderstorm crop up on you gives new meaning to the expression "F***ed and far from home!"
