i saw on ebay a rag joint for the steering wheel . i pulled the top part of column apart and the bairings look good . could the rag joint be worn out causing all the wobble and is it hard to replace.thanks
You should be able to determine if the joint is bad or not. Visually, if it looks like it's frayed, or disfigured, it's shot. If your steering is wierd, well...
There's 2 bolts, going through the joint. You need to keep the steering wheel straight, loosen the bolts for the rag joint, and seperate them. Replace the ragjoint, and retighten. Let us know how it goes. Last time I replaced one, it was for a '71 Chevy.

You saw the rag joint on ebay, but what is it really for?
Ford did not furnish the steering coupler (rag joint) separately for F100/350's after 1981, as it's part of the steering shaft & coupler assembly.
I'm having a problem with a rag joint replacement right now. The two bolts just turn and turn. We can't get them loose. Is there a trick to this or should I get a sledgehammer?
