I am hoping someone out there will be able to help me. My husband's 2004 Ford Ranger XLT FX4 Level II pickup was totaled in a head-on collision (he walked away-Praise God!) but now we are working with the insurance company of the kid who hit him and I cannot find any current market values of our vehicle. The MSRP was right around $28,000 when we purchased it new in 2004. I have found a ton of 2004 Ranger Edge/Tremor/XLT/Supercab etc. but I can't seem to find any FX4 Level II's out there for sale. Can anyone help me with a value for me to present to an adjuster?
Thank you.
Debra
Thanks John. Same problem I have been having. Edmunds, NADA, nobody has the FX4 Level 2 selection, just the basic XLT 4x4 supercab and that value is way low. I will try your suggestions.
You will probably not like the cash value they will offer. I would push for them to replacing it with one of similar value. Wait, I take that back. A kid hit your husband head-on and it was the kid's fault? I wouldn't settle for anything less than a new one.
Absolutely. Don't settle for anything less than a pretty new truck. Nothing your husband could've done to prevent it, so let them fix it. Good luck with it, and God bless that he came out fine.
Time for a dose of reality here; it's two years old (calender years is how it works) so there won't be a brand new truck in the settlement unless maybe, just maybe, and it better have been a most spectacular wreck and your husband went through hell for days/weeks in the hospital and rehab. This would be a form of *hush* money. Pressuring them to settle with a *like* vehicle with similar mileage and equipment is a fair thing to request.
Thank you all for the comments. We are not looking to get more than what we had. We just want things back to the way they were. Still can't find any 2004 FX4 Level II's on the market. The insurance company has not made an offer. It's been 5 days since the accident and we are trying to be patient. :/
Maybe contact the two members here that deal in cars. They both have excellent reputations and have made many buyers very happy.
*Why not put the burden on THEM to find the vehicle, subject to your approval? No need for you to waste more of your time on an accident caused by THEIR insured. In the meantime, get a rental on their nickle. These are great bargining chips as once you get the rental it's costing them money. Don't get a put put car either, a similar replacement is what's fair. The longer you have that rental the more it's costing them, thus encouraging them to settle. Insurance companies HATE having to pay money ( ) but they sure like making people wait for theirs.

Try www.cars.com with the advanced option so you can filter on fx4. If you don't limit your search to X miles from your zip, ( pick 'any' ), you should come up with about a half dozen across the country.
Ok I just recived a settlement on a 94 ext cab 2x4 2.3 ( $4200 ) I have been searching for 2 weeks for a replacement, Your's is about $20,000 in colorado
i hate to say this but it may take a while before you see anything unless you get a lawyer. my brother and sister-in-law have the worst luck. she was head on in a crown vic and he was rear- ended by a log truck in his grand- marquis. both are still in process and both cars were totalled. her accident happened three years ago and is almost settled and his was about a year and a half but it also consisted of a fishing boat and trailer. all they want is for things back to normal but both other parties are trying to fight a losing battle. good luck and i'm glad your hubby is ok!
Why are you even fighting with thier insurance company????, it's a new truck and should have full coverage. That means you go through your own insurance and then they deal with the other guys insurance. Also you should have a rental car in the meantime till this is settled, which should also be covered by your insurance. BTW insurance pay for the replacement value, which means they will give you what that truck would cost to by it again in at it's current milege in the condition it was before the crash.
