Edge Custom Tunes

I have a few questions on customizing the tunes on the Edge programmer for a 2004 5.4L Extended Cab 4x4 FX4.

1.) When tuning to Level 2 or Level 3, what have you changed your shift firmness numbers to so that the shift is not as firm. I find that the shift seems too firm and that when I stomp the gas on the interstate, the engine revs way up and then the transmissions seems to grab and it takes off. That doesn't seem normal.....maybe it is?

2.) Has anyone found that customizing a couple settings, in either Level 2 or 3, has given them either better performance or helped with gas mileage. If so can you tell me what you have changed some of your values to? I'm averaging about 14MPG about half & half city and highway.

I ran a course that included city, stop & go, mild highway, and 65 mph highway miles. Ran the same identical route in stock and Edge on lvl 2 with timing bumped up +.25 and 87 octane gas. In stock I got 13.1 mpg and in lvl 2 15.4 mpg. It does seem to make a difference.

Thanks. I'll try bumping my timing up and see if I get any better. I'm waiting for my tank to run to empty now so I can run 91 octane and run lvl 3 to see how much that improves the performance.

Does anyone have any suggestions on custom settings for level 3?
Also, if anyone else has had any luck with custom settings in level 2 I would like to hear from you too.

I just had my Edgereplaced under warranty and the new did exactly what you described in level 2 but this was when I adjusted the shift firmness up + 2. Under strong acceleration (not WOT) it would hit 3000 rpm run past 4000 rpm without any increase in speed and then shift. Edge said to check for updates. I did and that fixed it. If you haven't checked for updates yet, it might be a good idea.
