Transmission Whining
Transmission Whining
1997 Explorer ... Auto Transmission started whining at low speed . Everything is working, 1,2,3 and overdrive, 4x4 high and low, Run at full speed 75 - 80 slow for traffic and it makes a loud whining noise.
Any Ideas before I take it to the trans shop .......

tranny whine...
I had a 98 explorer with the same problem. Whine was non existent when cold, and annoying when hot. My neighbor was a Ford mechanic for years. He told me the noise is in the valve body (very common). Recomendation is to have it flushed. However if you have high miles you may flush out the stuff holding it together. It's a crap shoot. Good luck.
