To lift or not

I've had my x for 4 years and once the snow tires come off I'm lifting it 6". I'm going to a local place for the lift work (Les Schwab) they do good work. I'm not really big on the huge truck look. In fact the 6" lift was something I had to convince myself on. The guys at Les Schwab said most Ex owners who get a 4" lift wish they would have gotten the 6. So I'm going with the 6. Good brands I've heard of are Donahoe. I'm using a Rev Tech lift with high performance shocks. I called a Donahoe distributor and they said the RevTech is just as good if you get some good shocks and its half the price. Mine should be lifted and rolling by march.

Lift - approx $1,150
Shocks - $250
Tires - $1,200
Wheels - $1,200
This is if I choose to go with 17's instead of the 16's I currently have.
Helwig Sway Bar - $250

Like I said, its been four years. I've modified my X in alot of other areas so this is just the next one in a long series. Superchip, 4" Exhuast, Gauges, Nav System, Video System, Airbags, Tranny cooler, Audio, Grill, K&N filter, etc... This is a tough one because of the dollars all in one shot but i have to replace the tires so I'm doing it now rather than in the next 30,000 miles.

Thanks X...I will keep ya posted, by the way did you just swap filters? or did you get the whole kit form K&N...I was thinking about buying a K&N universal application filter and removing the whole airbox completely....

Personally,
The only bennifit of a cold air intake is to block out the engine's hot air. I am going to start out with the Kwik intake mod which is cheaper than a K&N alone. Then do the exhaust/programmer and then later get a cold air intake last. You get the added flow and better sounds from the kwik intake mod, just not quite as efficient b/c there is no baffling to block the hot air produced by the engine.

For more info on the Kwik Intake Mod: Click Here!

That's a great filter, I use one. You can get them at http://www.fleetfilter.com . Less than $20, but shipping is kind of high. Most people stock up on fuel, oil and air filters when they order, shipping is about the same.
