Just a quich question: What is the purpose of the clutch fluid reservoir? Is there supposed to be any fluid in there? I took the cap off and took out this thick looking rubber insert....it doesnt look like there is supposed to be any fluid in there......my was empty. Is this normal?
the reservoir is suppose to be half full with DOT 3 brake fluid. since yours was empty, It would be wise to change the slave cylinder while you have the tranny out as it could have a slow leak. would not hurt to change the pilot bearing, throwout bearing, and pressure plate while you have the tranny out.

The resevoire should be fill to the lip with the rubber seal out, is your master cylinder leaking? if not than your slave cylinder most likely is. If you pull the tranny to fix it then you should consider overhauling the whole clutch assembly.

Well after a lot of time and work I finally decided to do all my changes. I replaced the clutch and master cylinders, it seems my master colappsed and thats why the rod broke. While I had the tranny out I decided to replace the clutch, all straight forward work......here is where the problems start.

After putting every thing back and bleeding the system I noticed no pedal resistance, I have to struggle to put it into 1st........forgett about reverse.

What gives? Its a simple re: and re! What did I miss?

I've seen a lot of posts about problems bleeding the clutch and the one thing that comes to mind is bench bleeding the MC first. I have a link in the tech info thread about bleeding and I know you'll find a lot of threads on this topic if you do a search.

Ken00, is right bleeding first will be the key. I wouldn't worry too much about it, it's nothing you did wrong really, these hydraulic clutches are just a b@tch to bleed. It's definately just air left in the system.

Good luck.

Well it seems all was ok.......just air in the MC....

Because the MC is located and positioned at a weird angle air gets trapped in it. I bench bled it and it worked like a charm.

It's a little slim tool, kinda like a mini pickle fork. You can find them at any auto parts store such as Napa.
