I was looking under my truck today to evaluate the front suspension and I noticed that the cab mount under the driver was missing. It is not rusted it is just that the bolt came loose and the rubber peice and bolt fell out. I know that I can buy a new cab mount set of rubber but does anyone know anything about the bolt or how it mounts? Can I get this part somewhere?
1. If you are looking for the Bolt kit they have it at LMC Truck, page 16,
Full Cab to Body mount kit - $100... I would pull the bolt from the other side and try to find a close match at your local hardware store, Home Deopt, Lowe's, etc... Maybe under $5
LMCtruck.com is the only place I know of that sells the rubber pieces and bolts seperatly. Avoid using the cheap poly-urethane mounts as they tend to punch holes in these old Fords.
There is an access panel on the forward side of the cab mount and the panel is held in place by a single bolt. Remove the small bolt and then remove the panel. The cab mount bolt drops down through a big washer in the bottom of the mount. If I remember correctly, there is about a 2" hole in the bottom of the cab mount and the washer is a stepped washer which fills in that hole and hold the cab mount down against the rubber bushing. The bolt goes through the stepped washer, through the rubber bushing and through the frame mount. Then it has a nut on it to hold everything together.
