I have an 05 F250 CC with the factory 6 disk indash changer. I am in the process of hooking up a Pioneer GM-7100M amp to the radio to turn the amp on only when the radio is on. I need the wiring diagram to the radio and can not find it on the web and searched here too.
I would like the wire coloring for the factory speakers if possible also. Can I still keep my rear speakers and just tap off them to the speaker inputs for the amp or do I have to disconnect the rear speakers when connecting the amp to those?
I made a custom sealed box out of 3/4" MDF with .9 cu ft for each of the two Pioneer TS-SW124D 12" subs in back of the rear seat for the amp to connect to. I also Dynamated the back wall and floor under the box.
Yeah KC will have luck with the diagrams/wiring colours, he seems to have a library of them. You can google if you want, I had a LITTLE luck finding my wiring colours on there.
You asked if you could tap off the rear speakers without disconnecting them so you can connect them to the amp? Do you mean you want to hook up those spekers to the HU and amp at the same time? You cannot do that, it's a big no no.
Rangerpilot,
I guess what I'm asking is the factory speakers in the rear are the ones I have tapped onto for the signal to the amp input. Can I leave the wire that I tapped onto connected to the factory speakers and the input of the amp? I have the output of the amp to two 12" subwoofers.
Yes. Under one condition. The amp either has a built in crossover, or you're using one to give the subs only low fequencies. In that case, it should work just fine. Just be careful what you cut into and take your time, do it all right and it'll work out just fine with no problems.
OK, I'm going to recheck the wiring tonight. yes it does have a cross over it is Pioneer GM-7100M tied to two Pioneer TS-SW124D 12" subs. Low freq cut off on the amp is adjustable from 40Hz to 240Hz.
I also turned it on and adjusted the cut over and gain. I think I am going to have to replace the factory speakers and maybe add an amp to them as the bass overwhelms the midrange and highs.
Looking at a Pioneer GM-6100F amp and 4 Pioneer TS-A6881R 4-way speakers. I am looking at Dynamating it behind the 4 ways too maybe the whole door. I am kinda wanting to keep the stock HU cause the system will be so stealthy most all the bad guys that look into the truck will not give it a second look to open it up and get it.
Shadow- I just put 6 of the Pioneers in my Excursion and ran 4 for 3 years in my truck and am very happy with their performance for the money, particularly if you add an amp to them. If you look around you can get them for under $50 a pair.
They don't have great bass but that's why you have the Subs.
