I also just installed a set of side steps/nerfs in stainless steel on my extended cab. Installation was easy for me and my wife. Fit and finish excellent. Shipping and packaging was excellednt also. These were purchased thru Ebay seller "Grilles4U" at $171.00 (including UPS shipping). I am "very careful" with ebay (don't trust them), but this seller has great product...just no name branding. They have some real neat grilles for Fords too...cheap.
1. Scrub the liner with a stiff brush, water, and automotive soap. Scrub the SNOT out of it!
2. Let it completely dry.
3. Apply Just Once (www.justonce.com) or any other "Armorall" type product that does not contain any silicone or oils, which would make your liner slippery. We like Just Once, though. The liner will soak up a bunch of Just Once on your first application.
4. Apply another coat of Just Once a few times a year.
That's it, color is restored and looks great!
I've heard of others using Mop N Glo and even carburetor cleaner, but I've never tried it.
Everybody likes pics, so, here's a LINE-X color match (NO-fading!):
around here all you can get is black sprayed on. i still cant find anything that does'nt have silicones.
UPDATE:
I finally decided on what nerf bars to buy. At first I was set on black nerf bars but after reading some of the posts about the good quality of stainless steel, I went ahead and got the Nasta stainless steel nerf bars. I posted a picture of them on my truck in my gallery but it's not a very good picture. I'll have to take another one later.
