I finally got my 02 F250, and I am really impressed with the 5.4. I have
only been exposed to PSD in the 95-97 and the new 06, and I was expecting to it to be pretty slow.
Anyway, the truck came with an ARE high top shell with tool boxes, well racks, and a ladder rack on top, oh, and the two door in the back so you can walk in, I plan on selling the shell, hopefully soon, and I think I will need to remove the overload spring(s). I am sure the ride will be very stiff and the truck will sit too high. I wont be hauling many heavy loads, so Im not worried about losing the extra weigh capacity.
Any suggestions?
Also, the truck has 235/85/16 tires and will need to be replaced soon.
Staying with 16's, the 265/75/16 will be the biggest(practical) tires to use?
Thanks guys and gals, I am really enjoying all I am learning on this forum.
change yhe axle blocks from 4 inch to 2 inch, ny 350 4x4 crew wasv TOO high to get under my fifth, so that is what i HAD to do, just loostenshackle bolts, and swap them ouit, took less than 25 minutes , doing it myself, working off the floor
Thanks, Ill have to give that a try when I sell this camper shell.
My kids want me to take it off now so they can have a playhouse!
I think its a bit expensive for a temporary playhouse.....

I do not recommend removing the load bearing springs from your SD. I think if you are after lowing your SD because it is to high, then you should go with lowing shackles. You can find them in a 1", 2", 3", etc. They are usually affordable at less than $70.00. I did a google search...and here is just one link. http://www.stylinconcepts.com/part.a...5&scid=froogle
Regarding your tire size. I think you may want to stick with the LT235's...especially since you are a 2wd and lowering the rear. It will be interesting to see if the LT265's will fit. I am not certain they will. Afterall...a LT265 is 32" tall (more or less). Plus, you will have to get your PCM recalibrated for the tire size or your speedo will not track properly.
Thanks Biz, what I want to do to my truck is get it down to normal height. I was originally outfitted with a metal ARE shell with the split rear doors. I hope to sell the
shell(maybe, wife and kids have just about changed my mind) is bring the truck down to normal ride height and soften up the rear just a bit. It sits pretty high even with the shell so I am quite sure it has some added capacity to the rear springs. Ill try to find a truck that doesnt have the "butt up" in the air and compare spring packs.
