EDIS Module
I posted this awhile back, lost my way and I'm back to ask for more help.
Okay I need to pick some Ford electronics guru's brains. The short of it is I have a '91 Aerostar with DIS coil pack system. I've been having a code come up that says 'Momentary Loss of PIP signal' which will cause the ignition to drop out which makes the vehicle go KAWHAM like the torque converter unlocked and locked back up, scares the crap out of you. Gauges don't drop out like if it lost power and it came back on. It gets progressively worse and you can't come back up to speed.
I have tried the 'unhook the 4X4 module under the drivers seat', didn't change. Tranny had been flushe several months prior to this happening. The crank sensor is brand new from FORD.
So I need to know have any of you run into this? Or heard of it? My mech thinks it is the EDIS module but at $250-$350 for one I have to find out if this can get tested first. I may have to pull the one off my '92 Vic if they're compatable and see if that's it.
So any help I can get is very much appreciated and thank you in advance.
Duane
With the engine off, you may also want to try and un-plug the module and then plug it back in. Believe it or not, this fixes problems sometimes.
