Post 1999 EXPED. Transfer case issues

OK Guys and Gals I need your help, I have my 1999 Eddie Bauer Expedition in the shop right now and her is what I know. They put in a second transfer case on my all wheel drive and they inform me that the clutch plates are engaging under load and computer is trying to engage front wheels all the time. The first transfer case was destroyed by this along with the second. My question is if the speed sensors are new, and the transfer case is good what else could be causing the transfer case to engage. By the way yes my tires are good and the total miles on the car is 88k. Hope somebody has another idea of what could be causing this issue as the mechanic seems lost at the moment.
