New Dodge Engine
The Honda Odyssey version is called: Variable Cylinder Management™ (VCM™). It is not really associated to i-VTEC, but does work with all the different systems that Honda utilizes. Active Control Engine Mount System (ACM) and Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). These help reduce any ability for the driver to notice when VCM is "ON" or "OFF". Quite effective...IMO.
Works very well and I can attest...that the mileage gains are real. With VCM 28mpg is common (as advertised). The same engine minus VCM gets 25mpg. Here MORE is better.
Am I worried about any wear differences? No. The way I see it...if the 3 cylinders that run all the time wear faster...then so be it. After all, they would wear that fast either way. No biggie to me...
The way I see it...I get to keep my V10 and all the POWER, but if I can now get 2 or 3 more mpg...then I am a HAPPY SD owner!
Just my .02
