3.50 is the gear ratio, D8 is '78 for the year, it should be a high pinion Dana 44 in the front and a Ford 9" in the back. Quick way to double check ratio is lift one tire off the ground (open diff) turn the wheel/tire once around, count the number of times the driveshaft turns, should be 3 and 1/2 times if it has the 3.50's.
