I am looking at purchasing a model 90300 4500 watt Chicago Electric generator with Robin/Subaru EX27 9hp OHC engine for my mother-in-law. From what I have seen and heard of the Robin engine, it is high quality, made in Japan. My concerns lay with the Chicago Electric Chinese made generator head. Anyone have any experience with this generator model? This is the perfect generator for her, as it is the right size (light weight), right price ($530), and is also electric start. Thank you. Philip.
The generator would be designated for home stand-by. Would excersice monthly for 10 minutes. Would expect 1000 hour life. She borrowed my 10000 watt generac this time last year after an ice storm and put 100 hours on it, and she did not run it full time. Thank you. Philip.
WE have a 5hp robin on a go cart, in short the motor is junk. It's weak on power and we had to readjust the carb to make it run right when we got it. I'd stick with a honda or briggs powered one, they will last forever.
