a friend of mine always brags about his supposedly bad 1994 350 chevy 4 speed 3/4 ton so i finally got tired of his mouth and raced him i have a bone stock 1978 f-150 4x4 351m automatic and i beat him by close to 6 truck lengths now he wants to hook them up..... so the question is who will pull who? What does everyone think?
you also have the torque multiplication factor in 1st gear he does not. so in 1st you could be putting down about 500 ft pounds he would only be putting down about 320
it depends. if your tires break loose you will lose but if his break lose you will win. its a fine art really. have any buddys you could practice with?
have any tips on how to do this (first time) should i put the transmission in 1 or stay in drive? should i just mash my brakes until he spins? i have a feeling his clutch will slip... but when he starts to spin should i floor it or just ease into it?
You want your truck as heavy as possible during the pull for traction reasons. Full gas tank for sure. If you don't think he'll notice, I'd put some sand bags in the bed. If you wanted to be sneaky about it, I'd try to add as much weight inside the cab as you can. Find a fat friend.
with his being a newer truck, if it has auto locking hubs, make sure that both trucks are in 4 wheel drive or make sure he does take advantage and kick his into 4x after hooking up
If you are doing this on dry pavement. Clean those tires with a degreaser. Get the oil out and you should get better traction. Should need it though Good luck
