Neutral safety switch linkage install

I have a 68 f100, 2x4, 360, auto C-6, that I just installed a 79 column and Bendix to Saginaw steering system change-over into. Now must complete the wiring and install a neutral safety switch. I'm going to shave grooves into the tranny linkage for the NSS with a dremel, but wondered if anyone has ever done this before and has any recommendations? I would rather have the correct linkage, but am unable to find the necessary parts currently. Hopefully this setup will work until then. I purchased a new NSS, but haven't any idea if it's in "Park" or somewhere else, so I will wire it first to try before installation. I'm still matching wires to complete the column and would appreciate any assistance with that as well. Thank you for your help!

I used a 76 column and the switch was on the base of the column. I guessing the switch is on the x-mission on yours? I guess I can't help you if that's the case. Good luck

After 78 they went to the tranny linkage. Finished the wiring and now the fun part!
