I test drove several trucks over the past couple of days all in the 1992-1996 area and almost everyone of them had floppy mirrors on the doors. The first one I thought the mirror itself was broken or loose so I wiggled it and the sheetmetal of the door wiggled with it.Is there a brace inside the door that breaks loose or something? This would be very annoying driving down the road.
well i just assumed that he was drinking beer before he started on door panel.
but during repair i do not suggest drinking because you will need both hands to yank panel off.
NO, NO, NO !!!! you don't drink during the repair, because you need both hands to put the band-aids on all the cuts you get from the razor sharp metal edges behind the panels!!!!!
On my 92 F150 the brace is broken in half on the pass.side inside the door.I saw it when I had the door panel off working on the power window.I have the small mirrors that bolt on only at the top.I did remove and cut off one mounting bolt about 1/4 inch that was hitting on the window as it came to the top.

Is this brace made of metal??I'm really wondering about this as the mirrors didn't appear to be loose on the door (couldn't pull them in or out) they just seemed to flop when you would hit any small bumps and just vibrated from normal driving.
The brace appears to be made of aluminum. It was way up in there so I didn't monkey with it..it's hard to remember as it was about 6 months ago. I have had my truck about a year now and I don't even notice it anymore.
just buy the truck you like the most, if this is the only problem on the truck you are lucky.
So far I haven't found any decent trucks. They all have too much rust or have mechanical issues. The mirror's might seem like a small thing but they are just something more to turn me off of a potential truck with some other problems. If its an easy fix then I won't worry too much about it.
