It ALWAYS happens on the weekend. You'll have to write down the error code number, call Super Chip on Monday and mail it to them. Then in about a week or 2 you will get it back in the mail and it will work for another 6 months. At least that is what has happened to me. I have had another error code on mine for the last 3 weeks and am still debating whether or not so send it in AGAIN.

[QUOTE]superchips error code question

I’ve a 05’ F-250. I had the same problem (error 6). I believe it’s a 1704-A Superchip. No problem getting to the Tech. by calling, although it wasn’t on the weekend. The only question he ask me was to insure all accessories were turned-off (my heated seat was on) while trying to download/upload). In any event, he wasn’t able to solve problem. He determined the software in the chip could be bad and indicated that that happens sometimes. He directed me to return it and exchange (none in stock, idiot ordered 1704 verses 1704-A. Happened around X-mas, took 2 weeks to get this unscrewed). Got the new one in and no problems. Good luck.

What's the difference between a 1704 and 1704-A? I think I have the 1704. Did they cheat me out of an "A"?

The 1704 supported 2003-2004. The 1704-A supports 2003-2006. The 1704 hasn't been made for a long time.

It's my belief the the 1704 is for the 04' model and the 1704-A is for the 05'.

Typo. The 1704 supports 2003-2004. The 1704-A supports 2003-2005. The 1706 supports 2006.
