please help error code

I keep getting a error code from my superchip
1705. I have a 97 f-250 7.3 ps
It says Error Type 8
I have pulled the power lock fuse and all other
power is off that I know of ,superchips wants no
power so programmer will read my system.
I have put my alarm in valet also, should I
un-plug the glow plugs for less battery drain?

Have you contacted Superchips to see what the error code means?

As long as your battery is in good shape and charged, drain isn't a problem. I have done probably 20 superchips, all I turn off is the A/C and radio. I think you have to pull the fuel pump fuse for Fords, but I can't remember if that would cause a code.

I called Superchip, The tech guy was'nt real talkative,he said make sure
batteries are reading at least 12.6 volts and it was ok to use a charger even
though manual says not too!
And also make sure their isnt a gold chip by the computer!
I will check this weekend when I have more time, now that I know where the computer is!

When I flash my truck I pull the fuel pump fuse and make shure everything is off, I have a gasser though. You can put a battery charger on during flashing to make shure your batteeries have enough juice. 12.6 volts sounds like enough to me though. If your glow plugs are heating up I could see how they could draw the battery down some, but you have 2 batteries on your truck.

I pulled kicker panel and e-brake assembly away and see the
back of the computer took the two screws out of the black box
inside of box is a green circuit boardwith a hypertech sticker on it.
So what do I do next??? Leave circuit board off? and try to re-program
the super chip? or what it is down in the driveway and I will need in a few hours!

The chip should be installed on the top side of this picture, to the dozen or so pin connector.

If it is, then remove the hypertech chip and reinstall the computer.
