Having the Diablo on 87 octane wont decrease your mileage will it? I do about 80% highway miles, don't need any worse mileage!

Like I said... I get 14 mpg no matter what I do to upgrade my truck. If I returned it to the 91 octane tune, I'd be out the extra 20 cents a gallon without any increase in gas mileage.

I recommend you switch the tune after a tank of 91 or better to 87 (all things being equal) to see if your mileage stays the same.

Well I finally took a long road trip since I installed mine. My last road trip Before the Predator, I got 15.4mpg. This trip (even thru the hills of eastern KY), I got 16.9mpg with some in town driving. I run the 87 octane setting and my mileage has increased 1.5mpg. I average about 14 in town. So the way I see it, the added power even in the 87 octane setting, lets the engine not work as hard so efficiency is increased.

Personally having used both a Diablosport predator on a few Fords and SCT on mine. I recommend SCT. I will never use a Diablosport product on my cars.

So what is it about the Diablosport that you don't like?

Well the first thing is only for auto equipped vehicles. I have been using SCT's Extreme Tuning software for about quite some time on my TBird. SCT offer's more control over an auto transmission than the predator does.

The second thing. This is my biggest concern with DiabloSport is the A/F ratios with their canned tunes. Everybody I personally know that is running a Diablo tuned vehicle has had to richen the A/F ratio as they were pinging. Some who have maxed out the Predator's A/F ratio adjustment, still ping under certain circumstances. That bothers me with their product.

With my experience with SCT which I have had more than with Diablo, the only time I have seen cars ping is when the A/F ratio was leaned out by the end user and they had enough control to get it back to a safe level.

I do personally know of 2 cars that were damaged by unsafe A/F ratios, both cars were using Diablosport Predators. One was an 05 Mustang GT with a Steeda CAI and Diablosport. Steeda sold him the wrong predator for that CAI and he ended up losing a piston. Damage done was not covered by warranty, Steeda nor Diablosport would take responsibilty for the ****up. A very expensive lesson learned and that pretty much turned me off on their stuff.

Is there a tunner for the 5.4 in the 2006 F-250 Super Duty? They all seem to be for the F-150.
Mine also has the 5 speed auto. (Torgue Shift)

While SCT tuners are extremely nice products to have, I equate them to being a midway point between the Tweecer software crowd and the handheld canned tune style. They tend to be a few hundred dollars more than the Predator and other lower priced hand held tuners. You pay more, you get more...

If you are expecting to mod your vehicle beyond the normal bolt-ons (FIPK, TB, headers, cat-back being the primary stuff) and then romp on the gas on a regular basis, then I know you're in the market for the SCT and you already know what one is and you will use it with a wideband A/F ratio monitor so you can tune your vehicle properly.

If you just want to plug and play and maybe get a few horses out of it, then go with the Predator or similar hand held.

As I have stated, I own a Predator, but this mod motor thing is becoming addictive .... I'm thinking about the SCT myself. For right now, the Predator will do just fine...

I like my Predator, I use it for towing, crisp up my shift points and my gear change. Just like kspilkinton stated you will get what you paid for. I would not want to spend the money on an SCT tuner for my aplication, but I would like to experiment with it .

I don't get how the Diablosport Predator is cheaper. I see them range in price from $350 - $400. The SCT XCal II ranges from $350 - $400 and offers more than the Predator. Then there is the SCT Pro Racer Package which is well a little more pricey but gives you access to everything.

Sorry TGJ,

I was making my comments towards the SCT Pro Racer Package when I was saying it was the between the Tweecer software and the Predator. Even the XCal2 is a step or two over the Predator. It's obvious...

I had picked my Predator up for $250 from a major catalog retailer. The limited research I had conducted on the SCT had it priced much higher at the time. I was using that old info when I made the comment. The parts places I looked at made no mention of the SCTs compatibility, if they had it.

The SCT is a good piece of equipment, it does lack the marketing of the Predator to the general non-hipo public.

I am confused though. Did you get your SCT with any preprogrammed tunes and how did they come about knowing what tunes to give you? Did you have to run a dyno and A/F? If you did get tunes on the programmer, did they cost you extra?

My SCT handheld flasher came with a tune on it. The SCT dealer that I bought it from has experience with the particular vehicle and used one of the tunes they had created for that vehicle. My car was not run on a dyno, but the A/F ratio on my car has been checked a couple of times and was actually a bit rich. The tune did not cost me extra. Since I am using the Extreme Tuning software, I was also emailed my tune and provided the extra cable so that the flasher could connect to my PC, again no extra charge. This cost me $375.00.

You keep saying car... is this on your Mustang? This is where I have the issue with SCT. If the tuner works on all mod motors... why don't they put that on the home page or something. I could call or email them, but you would figure they'd have it plastered somewhere. Perhaps these are tools they don't necessarily want in everybody's hands?

The car I am referring to is my 96 TBird. I agree that SCT would be a little better off saying what their product will work on. SCT will work on any EEC V or newer Ford processor. Basicly any 96+ Ford with a couple of 1994 - 1995 Models, they will also be able to do work on some of the older EEC IV models but that is limited.
