I just Purchased this programmer for my 2003 f250 5.4L 4x4 crew cab, and ws wondering if anyone has used this programmer looking for the best settings for my truck. I will be pulling a 6000lb. travel trailer with my truck. Any help would be great!
1. Send the HyperCrap back. Way too many horror stories out there to list.
2. Call Mike Butler at 5startuning.com
3. Discuss custom tunes (objectives, mods, personal preferences, etc.) and support with Mike.
4. Do happy dance after you realize what a great decision you made to go with 5Star (even though it's going to cost you - see #5).
5. After you receive the XCAL3 (with custom tunes), experience the joy of a well tuned PCM, PM me and I'll give you my address to send one case of Warsteiner.
And no, I do not work for Mike (in fact I have a Power Hungry Performance CTS in my 09).
Most people don't use this tuner. In the directions that came with the tuner they have a customer support line or they also likely have reccomendations on how to use each setting. If you like this tuner make a post and let everyone know. If you had reasearched the tuners before you settled and bought this one you would likely have gotten feedback on what is popular as well as what works for other users. The sct line of tuners as well as the edge evolution and gryphoon tuners are very very popular for ford gas motors.

Unfortunately alot those tuners aren't legal in Cal. Am going to try it during the Thanksgiving holiday, then if it sucks then it going on ebay and i'll order one from Mike at 5star.
Just a fyi. Custom tuning is not typically emission legal in any state. This is why it does not come preloaded. They tuning company and the people that produce the tuner do not preload them with these tunes for a reason. Though not typically spelled out most of the tunes are "offroad only". I'm not up to date on cali law but I would assume it would be hard for them to know what tune or tuner much less if it was stock programming with out some sort of software interface or a sniffer. A lot of ford techs probably would not know you had aftermarket tuning on your truck if it was a flashed in tune. It has been said that a lot of the programs written will pass emission in the diesel world. I've never had to do emissions on my truck. I don't read a lot on the gasser side of things but I assume they do have similar tunes.
