Question Speaker Sizes

I am getting ready to change the door speakers. What are the sizes in an '01 F250 Extended cab, front and rear doors.

Are they the same sizes in the front and rear doors. I know that in the earlier models, they had something 5 1/4's rounds in the front doors and 5 x 7's in the rear pillars.

The speakers in my '01 just suck. I have an expensive set of 6 X 9 Jenson tri I want to put in the rear doors and was just wondering if they would fit before I tore the door apart.

They may fit. Have to take into account the depth of your 6x9's and also you will have to trim the metal a bit

I was not planning on cutting any metal, but if it comes to that, I will.

What is the easiest way to confirm the speaker grounds in the rear doors. Ford has changed the color pattern.

Tonight I'll post your colors. My way I usually go about finding the polarity is just cut the harness off about an inch from the speaker plug. Take a 9volt battery an touch the leads to the speaker. When the speaker jumps out at you then what ever wire is on the positive terminal is your positive.

Thanks for the response. Now to take the rear door panels off. I understand that it is a PITA.

With the exception of my Ranger...I don't know of a vehicle where the rear speakers are easy to get to. Well maybe my buddy's Civic. But that's about it. They are always PITAs to get to.

When we did my dad's 1992 GMC stereo, I ended up pulling ever peice of trim in that truck, redoing the headliner, and getting new carpet. Also pulled all the seats out.

All that for four 4"x6" speakers...Went ahead and amped them and added a sub, why not lol, for all that effort.
